We believe we offer a high standard of veterinary care at reasonable cost. We understand that pricing transparency is important to our pet owners and we produce itemised invoices and receipts for the treatments we provide. Many of our standard charges are listed here and estimates are available on request. Prices listed include VAT.
Unlike many practices we allow a full 15 minutes for each consultation to ensure you have sufficient time to discuss any pet health concerns you may have with your vet. Our consultation charges are on a sliding scale, so if your pet requires follow-up visits you will pay less for these subsequent checks. We have a strong ethical view that our pricing should always be transparent and fair - our vets are not on any commission or incentive schemes but are instead advised to only recommend tests or treatments where they are necessary, or of benefit to your pet.
Our vaccination fees include a complete health check by a veterinary surgeon and provide an opportunity to discuss any health issues or concerns you have. Unlike some practices we do not charge extra for minor services (nail trims, emptying anal glands) performed during a vaccination appointment. Please note that, with advances in vaccination technology, dogs and cats do not necessarily need a full booster each year - call for more information.
The price for neutering dogs increases with weight, as bigger dogs require more anaesthetic and larger drug doses. All our quotes for surgery include a free follow-up health check within 5 days of the surgical procedure and, where necessary, a free appointment to remove stitches and check the surgical site. Stitches are usually removed 1-2 weeks after the operation. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the pros and cons of neutering or if you have any other queries.
House visit (working hours, including consultation)
Out-of-hours surcharge (before 8pm for REGISTERED clients)
House visits can be arranged when required but it is generally easier to examine and treat pets outside the home environment. If you do require a house call, please telephone early in the day to book the visit. A nurse will generally accompany the vet, whenever possible, to give assistance.
Please note that, even with routine procedures, some additional costs may be incurred, for example where there is the need for additional sedation or pain relief. Wherever possible you will be informed of this in advance. Estimated costs of other treatments can be obtained during consultation with the veterinary staff at the clinic. Please feel free to ask about fees in advance if you have any concerns about costs.
The following methods of payment are accepted: cash, personal cheque, credit/debit card (Access, Delta, Maestro, Mastercard, Switch, Solo, Visa). To keep costs down, we ask for payment at the time of treatment.
We would just like to mention how pleased we are that we were recommended Dacre House for our GSD who can get aggressive with strangers. After being told by our previous Vet not to bring our GSD in unless its an emergency. It was a breath of fresh air to meet Jane. She is calm and confident...and just gets on with the job in hand...
"Thank you in a really big way!" Great news about Poppy, just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help, care and advice when she was so ill. Regards...
Words will never be enough for the gentleness and kindness that you had to Rosie during her last few years. Also, the kindness that you gave to me - I know that every person's dog is very special to them but she was such a massive part of my life...(we) were very lucky that you were her vet - we couldn't have wished for a nicer, kinder person.
To everyone at Dacre House, thank you so much for the past year I have learnt so much. I am sorry to leave but I hope you will allow me back after my exams. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this opportunity.
Thank you for saving Phiphi's life. She is so happy to be home again, and feeling much more comfortable. She was looked after wonderfully...thank you again.
