We appreciate that bringing your pet to the vets can sometimes be a time of anxiety. At Dacre House we aim to make your visit as stress-free as possible.
We have off-road parking reserved for our customers and a bright, comfortable waiting area in reception for when you arrive.
Our experienced receptionists are willing to answer any general healthcare questions you may have and to give advice on day-to-day issues of pet ownership. We also have a range of pet care leaflets available on reception and information about local kennels/catteries, feed suppliers, training centres and more.
The consulting rooms are fully equipped and well-lit. Vets have quick and easy access to each patient's previous medical history during the consultation and are able to print out estimates and information sheets for you to take away with you.
We carry out a large proportion of our diagnostic work in-house. Getting results quickly is not simply about peace-of-mind: reaching a speedy diagnosis can greatly increase the chances of treatment being successful. We are constantly investing in new equipment and our current facilities include:
Blood pressure monitor
Rapid-test kits for diseases such as FeLV/FIV, Giardia, lungworm
We have two operating theatres, both well-equipped to meet the needs of our varied patients. We routinely carry out:
Since 2018 we have also been able to offer laparoscopic surgery, allowing us to carry out a number of procedures by 'keyhole' technique - this is less invasive and gives quicker recovery times.
We have a large, well-stocked pharmacy. If the vet recommends a medication during your visit to the clinic, you will usually be able to collect it straight away. We can also supply written prescriptions. Our stock includes:
Animal feeds and prescription diets
Flea, tick and worm treatments
Prescription veterinary medicines
Shampoos and washes
Collars, toys and chews
If you cannot find the item you are after, please ask - our supplier delivers to the clinic daily, so any items ordered are usually in stock by lunchtime the next working day.
Our kennel facilities are located at the far end of the clinic, offering some peace and seclusion from the busyness elsewhere. These kennels provide accommodation for both day-cases and in-patients.
Purpose-built, easy-clean housing

To everyone at Dacre House, thank you so much for the past year I have learnt so much. I am sorry to leave but I hope you will allow me back after my exams. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this opportunity.
Thank you for what you did for Sasha, you actually cared for her it wasn't just a job to you.
We would just like to mention how pleased we are that we were recommended Dacre House for our GSD who can get aggressive with strangers. After being told by our previous Vet not to bring our GSD in unless its an emergency. It was a breath of fresh air to meet Jane. She is calm and confident...and just gets on with the job in hand...
Thank you to you Bradley for all your skill with Badger, and to all your staff for their gifts of lots of loving care and understanding during his op and before and after. You made him feel it was his second home!
To the vet that mended my paw...With all my slobbery kisses. I'm sorry for growling at you on Saturday but thank you for making my wrist better so quickly. By Sunday my paw was fully on the ground and by Monday I was running around the garden a bit then I limped a bit! I am nearly back to myself, especially play with my best buddy Murphy the cat...
